Chief Secretary Carrie Lam has asked the Legislative Council to review security measures to prevent further acts of violence at its building.
She told reporters today that a meeting with the Chief Executive and the Secretary for Security was held this morning, and she also met with the council’s chairman and secretary to review last night's incident.
As some protesters threatened to take further action next week, she has asked the council to review the situation and reinforce security measures.
Mrs Lam said the Government respects, and is willing to listen to, people’s views, but violent and extreme acts will not be tolerated.
She added she is disappointed the council's Finance Committee has not yet approved the funding application for the northeast New Territories development plan, as it is important for providing land for Hong Kong’s housing and other economic needs.
