Violence not tolerated: TK Lai
January 18, 2014
The Police crime unit is handling the case of alleged abuse of an Indonesian domestic helper and has asked to send officers to Indonesia to interview her, Secretary for Security TK Lai says.
Speaking to the media today, Mr Lai said such violence is not tolerated and the Police have already asked the Indonesian police, through Interpol, to make arrangements for them to go to the country to interview the woman to obtain the information necessary for a thorough investigation.
He said wounding is a serious offence and a person convicted of wounding another person with intent which caused grievous bodily harm can be imprisoned for three years or more.
He appealed to anyone with information on the case to contact the Police.
