The Government will pursue the case of alleged abuse of an Indonesian domestic helper relentlessly to ensure that domestic helpers in Hong Kong are properly protected, Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung says.
Briefing reporters today, Mr Cheung said four Police officers will fly to Indonesia to interview a domestic helper who claims her Hong Kong employer had abused her. The Labour Department will also send two officers to join the visit.
"Our objective is to talk to the domestic helper to establish the facts. And if there is evidence that there is underpayment of wages or non-payment of wages and other benefits, we will certainly pursue the case."
