Chief Executive CY Leung has refuted claims the Central Government wants to pay pan-democratic legislators to support Hong Kong's political reform package.
The allegation was published in a local newspaper today.
Mr Leung told reporters the Central Government is determined to implement universal suffrage for the Chief Executive election in 2017, in accordance with the law.
He said the Central Government would not resort to other means to get the reform package passed.
The reform plan will be tabled at the Legislative Council on June 17.
Mr Leung urged legislators to vote according to their own judgement, taking into consideration the interests of the whole community.
