Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Raymond Tam said today the Government will "lobby for support till the very end" from legislators on its proposal for electing the Chief Executive by universal suffrage in 2017.
He told reporters this afternoon that any government around the world would "spare no effort" in lobbying for lawmakers' support.
Mr Tam also revealed that he would join Chief Secretary Carrie Lam for a new round of meetings with pan-democratic legislators in the coming two weeks.
He added that dialogue itself is meaningful, and that no-one should pre-empt or predict any results too prematurely.
"I think if there is still sincerity and determination to take constitutional development forward, all stakeholders including Government and Legislative Council members alike should treasure and cherish every opportunity to try to narrow the differences," Mr Tam said.
