5 arrested in anti-drink driving blitz
*
Hong Kong Police

Police have arrested five drivers for drink-driving offences during a citywide crackdown from February 12 to 17.

They were found to have alcohol proportions in their breath exceeding the prescribed limit. Three of them will be charged with the relevant offences. During the six-day operation, 950 drivers had breath tests.

Since the Road Traffic Legislation (Amendment) Ordinance 2008 took effect on February 9 last year, 47,349 drivers have been breath-tested. Of them, 261 were arrested.

Drink-driving is liable to a fine of up to $25,000, three years in jail and 10 driving-offence points.
