Illicit fuel off-loading centres shut down
Running out of gas: Customs officers shut down nine illicit fuel off-loading centres in North District.
*

Customs officers have shut down nine illicit fuel off-loading centres in North District, arresting 11 people and seizing 9,270 litres of illicit petrol.

In the raids between November 5 to 9, officers seized a total of 9,270 litres of illicit petrol, worth $460,000 and with a duty potential of about $55,800. They also impounded seven private cars and three light goods vehicles.

Nine local and two Mainland men, aged 22 to 49, were arrested. Four were illicit fuel off-loading centre operators while seven were drivers.
