City-wide road safety campaign to launch
*
Hong Kong Police

A two-week city-wide pedestrian road safety campaign will be held from November 25 to December 8.

During the first week, Police officers will distribute publicity leaflets at about 91 locations. Offenders will be given verbal warnings in the first week while stringent enforcement action will be taken in the next.

A total of 72 pedestrians were killed in traffic accidents in the first 10 months of this year, an increase of nine people compared with the same period last year.

Among the dead, 64% were over the age of 60. About 26% of the 12,603 traffic accidents in the first 10 months involved pedestrians and 3,373 people were injured.
