Driver dies after van crashes into sea

A 26-year-old driver was killed in Western after his van fell into the sea off Kennedy Town New Praya early this morning.

 

Police received a report of the accident at about 2.40am.The van had reportedly been travelling along Davis Street northbound when it hit a railing and toppled into the water.

 

Firefighters rescued the driver who was trapped inside the compartment. He was sent to Queen Mary Hospital where he was certified dead at 3:47am.

 

Hong Kong Island's special traffic investigation team is following up. Anyone who saw the accident or has information is urged to call officer on 3106 8849 or 8800.
