Stanley Prison officers have seized 76 soccer betting notes after searching the facility's shoe-making workshop. The bets involved are estimated to be 6,634 cigarette packs worth $600,000 on the black market.

The search was conducted September 19.

The Correctional Services Department said gambling in any form is prohibited in penal institutions. Officers will continue to monitor prisoner activities. Those known to have gambling intentions will be assigned to different workshops and dormitories.
