Secretary for Justice to visit US
*

Secretary for Justice Wong Yan-lung will visit Washington DC, New York and San Francisco September 10 to 18.

 

In Washington DC he will call on US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Antonin Scalia, the State Department Under Secretary for Democracy & Global Affairs Paula Dobriansky, and Chinese Ambassador Zhou Wenzhong.

 

He will also attend a lunch hosted by the Brookings Institution, give a speech at the Georgetown University Law Center and attend a dinner hosted by the Hong Kong Commissioner for Economic & Trade Affairs in the US.

 

In New York he will address a luncheon hosted by the trade office, the Hong Kong Association of New York, the New York City Bar Association and the American Foreign Law Association. He will also attend a seminar at Columbia University and meet Human Rights Watch members. He will also call on the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Permanent Mission of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations Wang Guangya and Chinese Consul-General Liu Biwei.

 

In San Francisco he will meet members of the city's bar association and address a luncheon organised by the trade office and the Hong Kong Association of Northern California. He will also call on Chinese Consul-General Peng Keyu, speak at a seminar at the School of Law, University of California, Berkeley, and officiate at the 20th Anniversary of the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in San Francisco reception.
