45 hurt in Tsing Yi traffic accident
*

Forty-five people were rushed to hospitals for treatment after four Kowloon-bound vehicles collided on Cheung Tsing Highway in Tsing Yi this morning.

The injured, including 31 women and 14 men, aged from 22 to 53, were sent to Princess Margaret, Yan Chai Hospital and Caritas Medical Centre.

A 38-year-old woman was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital in stable condition while a 31-year-old man is being treated in its Accident & Emergency Department.

The remaining injured have been discharged.

Initial reports said one medium goods vehicle and two coaches were involved in the incident, which occurred outside the Cheung Tsing Tunnel near Lai King MTR station shortly after 8am.

The affected road section was partially closed to traffic after the accident, and re-opened at 10.15am.
