Police arrest 206 in West Kowloon raids

Police arrested 206 people in West Kowloon this morning, mostly for breaching conditions of stay.

 

The joint anti-crime operation, in which officers from the Police Tactical Unit, Yau Tsim District, Mong Kok District, Sham Shui Po District, Kowloon City District and Marine Harbour Division, together with officers from the Immigration Department and the Labour Department participated, ended around 5am.

 

In the 24-hour operation, officers raided locations in West Kowloon and arrested of 116 men and 90 women.

 

Of them, 98 men and 81 women were arrested for breaching conditions of stay, 16 men and eight women for other illegal activities while the remaining two men and a woman were found to be illegal immigrants.

 

The Police stress they will carry out similar operations on a regular basis to stem all illicit activity in the region.
