Bus operators to enhance safety checks
*

Bus operators have agreed to enforce their monitoring systems to ensure safe bus services, and to enhance their employees' awareness of discipline and penalties relating to driving manners, Secretary for Transport & Housing Eva Cheng says.

Speaking after meeting bus operators this afternoon, Ms Cheng said they agreed to boost the monitoring of night-shift services and routes involving high-speed sections.

The Government told the operators there is an existing mechanism to trigger a review when the travel time of certain routes is not appropriate because of changing road conditions and other factors.

"Either the drivers or the supervisors as well as the company and the Transport Department can work together to trigger that review if necessary," she added.
