Morgue review committee set up
*

An inter-departmental co-ordinating committee has been formed to review public mortuary services, Secretary for Health, Welfare & Food Dr York Chow says.

The committee, chaired by Dr Chow, comprises representatives from the Health, Food & Environmental Hygiene, Architectural Services, Electrical & Mechanical Services and Planning Departments.

Its first meeting will be held early next week, and members will examine mortuary procedures and operations. They will review capacity and contingency arrangements, map out an operation plan to maximise use of existing facilities, and examine the adequacy of future facilities.
