Poultry stall breaches rest day condition

*
Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

A poultry stall operator in Ngau Chi Wan Market has been found breaching the rest day condition and may have its tenancy terminated, the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department says.

The department found 21 live chickens in the stall during an inspection on the Rest Day today. The stall operator later slaughtered the chickens.

According to the tenancy and licensing conditions, no live poultry should be kept at the premises on the rest day. Stalls must suspend business to carry out thorough cleaning and disinfection.

As the operator has breached the rest day condition, the department will consider terminating the poultry stall tenancy.

The department also reminded operators to observe the rest day conditions. Failure to comply with the conditions will lead to immediate termination of market stall tenancies or cancellation of fresh provision shop licences.
