Lexmark laser printers recalled

Misprint: Consumers should stop using Lexmark E230 and E232 monochrome laser printers which could pose a safety hazard.

Consumers should stop using Lexmark E230 and E232 monochrome laser printers which could pose a safety hazard.

The Electrical & Mechanical Services Department made the appeal today after Lexmark International (China) launched a voluntary recall of the printers, which were supplied between June and August.

Due to manufacturing defects, an internal component may overheat and pose a risk of electric shock. Consumers should return the printers to the supplier for replacement.

But printers bearing labels with "-HK" following the serial number, or with a serial number starting with "7" do not have the problem and are not being recalled.

For details, call the supplier's customer service hotline 2923 8111.
