Report sought on gastroenteritis outbreak

Joint visit to Ho Man Tin elderly home
Site visit: Health, Welfare & Food Bureau, Social Welfare Department, Centre for Health Protection and Buildings Department officers visit the Ho Man Tin elderly home.
*

Secretary for Health, Welfare & Food Dr Yeoh Eng-kiong has ordered the Social Welfare and Health Departments to issue a report on the Ho Man Tin elderly home gastroenteritis outbreak.

He has also asked for an assessment of present conditions in the home, which will help the Government identify problem areas. The report will aid the Government in studying the issues and problems involved, and review how to strengthen the system to ensure quality care.

As there will be renovation works on the premises, residents will be temporarily relocated to the Cheung Muk Tau Holiday Centre for the Elderly in Sai Kung in the coming days.

Meanwhile, to facilitate work on kitchen and toilet facilities, the Social Welfare Department has frozen the admission of new residents under the Enhanced Bought Place Scheme and cautioned the operator against the admission of new residents.
