25 pollution convictions recorded in January

Environmental Protection Department

The Environmental Protection Department recorded 25 convictions in January for breaches of anti-pollution laws.

 

There were 12 convictions for improper waste disposal, 11 for air pollution and two for water pollution.

 

The heaviest fine of $24,000 was meted out to a transport  company for importing controlled waste without a permit.
