63 inmates receive academic certificates
*

Sixty-three Stanley Prison inmates have been presented 105 academic certificates, obtaining 36 distinctions and credits, and 69 passes for various qualifications.

In the last year 139 inmates sat for the Certificate of Education Examination, the City & Guilds of London Institute Examination and the LCCI International Qualifications Examination. They received 290 credit points for Open University 39 courses and one inmate was awarded a bachelor degree in business administration (Chinese).

Speaking at today's presentation ceremony, Southern District Fight Crime Committee Chairman Ko Kam-cheung said the Correctional Services Department has promoted reading and continuous education at university level by organising the Rainbow Reading Award Scheme and the A Taste of University programme. It also provides vocational training and computer application courses.
