Companies fined for wage, MPF offences
*
Labour Department

Kwun Tong Magistracy fined East 8th Group (HK) and one of its directors a total of $51,000 today for wage offences, and ordered the employer to clear the outstanding wages via the court.

The firm failed to pay $18,000 in wages to a staff member. The director was convicted for his consent, connivance or neglect in the wage offences.

Employees who are owed wages should call the Labour Department's complaint hotline 2815 2200.

Meanwhile, the court also fined Hing Wah Materials Supply & Transport $10,000 for failing to enrol an employee in a Mandatory Provident Fund scheme.
