Police action to remove dangerous objects from camps outside the Legislative Council complex and Central Government Offices at Tamar aims to reduce the risk to public order, Commissioner of Police Stephen Lo says, adding it is not a clearance action.
Police yesterday urged people camped outside the area to remove the dangerous objects before noon today, noting Police officers would take unclaimed items to police stations for safekeeping after that deadline.
Some groups have revealed plans to express their views in a radical manner during the political reform debate, Mr Lo said, adding these groups might use the dangerous objects and harm other peaceful protesters and police officers.
He also noted that Police will send an evidence gathering team to the scene, to enhance the force’s investigation and enforcement abilities.
