Last protest site to be cleared

December 13, 2014

Police will remove obstacles in the illegally occupied area on Yee Wo Street, Causeway Bay, on December 15 to reopen the road.

Police Public Relations Branch Chief Superintendent Steve Hui made the announcement at a press conference today.

He said the illegal blockage of a section of Yee Wo Street has created serious traffic congestion around Causeway Bay and has hurt business. Police must reopen the road so normal traffic flow can resume.

He said he hopes the illegal occupiers there co-operate with Police to avoid unnecessary confrontation. If they refuse to leave, Police will take action to disperse them and may make arrests.

On some people using shopping as an excuse to assemble and cause malicious nuisance to shops and public transport services in Mong Kok every night, Mr Hui said these disruptive and harassing acts are illegal.
