Secretary for Education Eddie Ng has advised kindergartens to install water filters to ensure water quality for their students.
He made the statement today in response to reports of excessive lead being found in the water supply of some schools.
Mr Ng told a press briefing children aged six or below face a higher risk of lead poisoning.
He said water filters should be installed at kindergartens built from 2005.
The Education Bureau will install water filters at public and subsidised schools built by the Government since 2005, he added.
Director of Social Welfare Carol Yip said the Social Welfare Department will install water filters at its childcare centres built since 2005.
