Traffic conditions to be evaluated

October 14, 2014

Assistant Commissioner for Transport Albert Su advises commuters to use public transport despite the re-opening of some roads on Hong Kong Island.

Mr Su said at a press conference today that 60 bus routes have resumed passing through Admiralty. However, East Admiralty bus terminal has not resumed operation because Rodney Street is blocked. Eleven bus routes are still suspended, and special bus route 40M especially for teachers and students on Hong Kong Island will stop tomorrow. Tram services between Kennedy Town and Happy Valley have resumed.

He noted that while some barriers were removed from roads in Admiralty and Causeway Bay, protesters are still partly blocking some main roads.

The department will evaluate traffic conditions over the next few days, and drivers should follow frontline traffic police officers' instructions.

Hospital Authority Senior Manager Andy Kung said at the conference that 188 patients have visited public hospitals for consultation due to Occupy Central since the movement began.
