Director of Administration Kitty Choi says the Government will not open the East Wing forecourt of the Central Government Offices for assembly by Occupy Central protesters.
She said today the forecourt is mainly used as a vehicular access and pick-up/drop-off area for CGO, adding that large congregations there will seriously affect the building’s operation and pose safety risks.
Opening the forecourt will probably cause it to become another occupation point for the protesters, she added.
There are 3,000 staff working at CGO and its has up to 1,000 visitors per day on average, and the Government is responsible for their safety.
