Director of Home Affairs Pamela Tan and representatives of the Central & Western, Wan Chai, Eastern, and Southern District councils today visited Yee Wo Street in Causeway Bay and Queensway, to speak with protesters, urging them to re-open the roads.
Mrs Tan said many residents respected the protesters’ views, but hopes they can mutually respect each other by re-opening the roads to allow bus services to resume normal operation.
Noting that the effects on people's livelihood are growing and people are not tolerant any more, she called on protesters to consider the daily needs of residents and shop owners.
She also asked them to consider moving to some nearby parks that can accommodate large number of people while minimising disturbance to nearby residents.
