Raymond Tam urges hygiene care

April 27, 2013
Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Raymond Tam says the cleansing campaign across 18 districts is aimed at prevention, reminding people to maintain personal, household and community hygiene.

Briefing reporters after participating in the campaign in Sham Shui Po, Mr Tam thanked the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department’s staff and the District Council for cleaning hygiene blackspots, which he said has not been an easy task.

He emphasised the need for preventive measures, having learned about Fujian’s H7N9 cases before returning to Hong Kong from Beijing last night.

Responding to suggestions to step up enforcement against littering, he said he would relay the idea to the Government, and hopes departments take preventive measures against a possible outbreak of avian influenza A (H7N9).

Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Prof KC Chan visited Yau Tsim Mong District and cleaned facilities at the Kowloon Park Drive Children's Playground. Prof Chan told reporters good hygiene here is particularly important, as the children always touch many toys and playground equipment.

Secretary for Security TK Lai and Secretary for the Environment KS Wong also participated in the campaign this morning, visiting Sheung Fung Street Market in Wong Tai Sin and Ngau Tau Kok Road. Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung visited Kowloon City Market in the afternoon.
