'HK our home' campaign opens
April 23, 2013
Chief Secretary Carrie Lam launched the Hong Kong: Our Home Campaign today, which will see 480 events inject positive energy into society.
Speaking to the media after the ceremony, she said the campaign will foster social cohesion and promote care, mutual help and solidarity in the community.
Mrs Lam said the Government's role is to provide a platform for activities and events with common goals, adding the campaign does not require additional funding and is not a sign of negative sentiments.
Eight principal officials and 170 representatives from partner organisations attended the ceremony, from business leaders and NGOs to sporting associations and professional institutes.
The campaign will run until the end of the year, supported by four themes: Vibrant Hong Kong, Hip Hong Kong, Caring Hong Kong, and Fresh Hong Kong.
Mrs Lam has chaired a task force and created four working groups to oversee the campaign.
More than 480 events and activities will be staged over the next eight months, including the 4th Hong Kong Games, the Food Wise Campaign, the Clean Shorelines Campaign, the inaugural berthing at the new Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, and Hong Kong 'Positive Energy Day' on May 26.
To prevent avian influenza A, principal officials will take part in a three-day district cleaning operation from April 26.
