If the Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link is not put to use after its completion, it will be a huge loss to Hong Kong.
Chief Executive Carrie Lam made the statement in response media questions as she concluded her Beijing trip today.
She said the operational loss to Hong Kong will be tremendous and people with businesses on the Mainland or working and living there will be deprived of convenient transport should the Hong Kong Section not be commissioned.
Mrs Lam said a pragmatic attitude should be adopted towards the co-location plan for the rail link, attributing the calm public response to the plan over the last two weeks to the community's pragmatism.
