The Centre for Health Protection has called on the public to take preventive measures against mosquitoes after confirming the year's first local Dengue fever case.
The 45-year-old patient fell ill with high fever, chills, headache and dizziness on July 29 and was sent to Kwong Wah Hospital.
He tested positive for the Dengue virus and was discharged today after symptoms subsided.
He lives in a unit on Cedar Street, Prince Edward, and works in the construction site for West Kowloon Station of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link.
He had no travel history during the incubation period and had frequent mosquito bites at his workplace and some near his residence.
His home contacts are asymptomatic.
A health talk will be held in Henry G. Leong Yaumatei Community Centre tomorrow.
People with symptoms can call the centre's hotline (2125 1133).
