There is a slim chance the Legislative Council will pass the Government's political reform proposal next week, Acting Chief Executive Carrie Lam said today.
The proposal on electing the Chief Executive by universal suffrage in 2017 will be tabled to the Legislative Council on June 17.
Mrs Lam told reporters this morning that she had met with pan-democratic legislators to lobby for their support, but all of them had stated that they would not change their position.
She reiterated that the Government would continue "until the last minute" to garner lawmakers' support for the reform package and urged them to vote with the overall and long-term interests of Hong Kong in mind.
