Acting Chief Executive Carrie Lam said today there is no room to amend the proposal on electing the Chief Executive by universal suffrage in 2017.
Speaking to reporters ahead of an Executive Council meeting this morning, Mrs Lam noted that the reform package is legal and fits the city's current environment.
She added that the Government aims to put the proposal to a vote at the Legislative Council before the summer recess, and stressed there is not much time left.
Mrs Lam said she hoped the proposal could gain a two-thirds majority in LegCo to implement the goal of "one-person, one-vote" in electing the Chief Executive.
She said the Government is also following up on arrangements for meetings between pan-democratic lawmakers and Mainland officials to discuss the reform package.
