The second round of public consultation on constitutional reform will launch soon, Chief Secretary Carrie Lam said today.
Mrs Lam told reporters that the new round of consultation is not to discuss the National People’s Congress Standing Committee’s decisions made on August 31, but to seek an election proposal in accordance with those decisions and accepted by Hong Kong people.
She urges the pan-democratic legislators to participate in the next round of consultation under the framework set out in the Basic Law and the NPCSC’s decisions.
She also noted that the Government has completed a report recording the events that happened in Hong Kong since the NPCSC’s decisions were made on August 31 last year.
The report will be submitted to the Central Authorities soon, she added.
