Chief Executive CY Leung said the Occupy Central protests cannot help achieve a satisfactory solution to questions on universal suffrage.
Speaking to reporters today, Mr Leung said that instead, the issue should be addressed in a practical, rational, peaceful and legal manner, that is in accordance with the Basic Law and relevant decisions of the National People's Congress Standing Committee.
He added that the occupation has caused a lot of damage to Hong Kong, including to its international image, as well as economic losses, and disruption to people's lives.
