Chief Executive CY Leung says the court has clearly explained its reasons for granting the injunction order to remove road obstacles, and Police are duty bound to execute the instruction.
Speaking to reporters in Beijing today, Mr Leung said it is in the spirit of the rule of law that the court order be complied with.
He said the only way to take forward constitutional development is to implement universal suffrage in the 2017 Chief Executive election according to the Basic Law and National People’s Congress Standing Committee decisions, and he is confident of achieving the goal.
He said the Central Government is well aware of the views of different sectors in Hong Kong on constitutional development, including those of student groups and pan-democrats.
The Government will compile the Public Sentiments Report as soon as possible and submit it to the Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office, he added.
On the influence of external forces on the occupy movement, he said, as an open city, external forces have always existed in Hong Kong and it is his duty to be aware of the situation.
