The Central Government is fully aware of Hong Kong people's views on constitutional reform, Chief Executive CY Leung said today.
He made the comment in response to the Federation of Students’ plan to fly to Beijing to seek talks with Mainland officials on the issue.
He said there is no need for them to do so, reiterating that their request for a “civic nomination” does not comply with the Basic Law, which stipulates that the power of nominating Chief Executive candidates rests in the nominating committee.
Noting the adverse effects of the Occupy Central movement, Mr Leung said it is time for it to end.
