Mother charged with infanticide

*
Hong Kong Police

Police today charged a 17-year-old girl with infanticide, for leaving her newborn baby in a Tsuen Wan rubbish bin. She will appear in Tsuen Wan Magistracy April 19.

The baby boy was found inside the bin at the junction of Sha Tsui Road and Ham Tin Street at 6am yesterday. The child was sent to Yan Chai Hosiptal and died about 6.30am.

Police arrested the mother in a Sha Tsui Road flat. It is believed she abandoned the baby soon after she delivered it in the flat.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted tomorrow.
