Correctional Services Department

Young inmates at Lai King Correctional Institution were presented with certificates today for achieving good results in public exams.

Fifty-two inmates, many now discharged, obtained 90 distinctions and 37 passes in the City and Guilds examinations, the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, the LCCI International Qualifications examinations and tests organised by the Clothing Industry Training Authority.

They achieved good results in subjects like Chinese and English computer applications, bookkeeping, clothing product development, pattern making, as well as food and beverage service.

Situated in Kwai Chung, the Correctional Services Department institution is a minimum-security facility with 240 penal places for females aged 14 to 21.
