Heroin seized, man arrested at airport

Customs officers have arrested a 38-year-old Filipino at the Hong Kong International Airport after 1kg of heroin with an estimated retail value of $770,000 was found concealed in two sides of his suitcase.

 

Officers stopped the man last night, after he arrived from Manila, and seized the drug.

 

He will be charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug, and will appear in Tsuen Wan Magistracy tomorrow.

 

The maximum penalty for drug trafficking is life imprisonment and a $5 million fine.
