*

Financial Secretary John Tsang and Commissioner of Customs & Excise Richard Yuen visited injured Customs officer Yan Moon-fai in Tuen Mun Hospital today.

He suffered leg injuries in an anti-illicit cigarette operation in Tai Sang Wai, Yuen Long, this morning. He and three other officers were injured when a suspicious lorry they wanted to search rammed their vehicle just after midnight.

Mr Yan was admitted to hospital in stable condition and the three other officers were treated and discharged.

About 1.8 million cigarettes worth $3.6 million, and with a dutiable value of $2.2 million, were found in the lorry and a van that was with it.

The 26-year-old lorry driver was arrested and will appear in Fanling Magistracy tomorrow.
