Forum on obscene articles to be held
*

The Commerce & Economic Development Bureau will hold a public forum tomorrow on obscene and indecent articles at Sha Tin Town Hall from 7.30pm. The Cantonese forum will help improve the regulation of such articles.

On October 3 the Government launched the first round of public consultations on the comprehensive review of the Control of Obscene & Indecent Articles Ordinance.

The consultation covers all main issues relating to the operation of the ordinance and a wide range of areas for public discussion. These include the definitions of "obscenity" and "indecency", the adjudicating system, the classification system, regulation of new forms of media, enforcement, penalties, and publicity and public education.

A similar discussion session will be held at the Space Museum January 16.

Views can be shared in an online discussion forum. Comments should be sent to 2/F Murray Building, Garden Road, Central; faxed to 2511 1458; or emailed here by January 31.
