Traffic policeman's death mourned
*
Hong Kong Police

Acting Chief Executive Henry Tang, Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee and Commissioner of Police Tang King-shing expressed grief over Police Constable So Chi-ho's death in a Lok Ma Chau traffic accident while on duty, and extended condolences to his family.

At about 7.55pm yesterday, Mr So was travelling on a police motorcycle northbound on Kwu Tung Road. He appears to have lost control near the Europa Garden construction site, where he was found lying unconscious.

He was sent to North District Hospital, where he was certified dead at 8.28pm.

New Territories North's special traffic investigation team is probing the case. The Force Welfare Services Group has contacted Mr So's family and will make every effort to help.

Investigations showed a private car passed the scene around the time of the accident, and the driver might have seen it. Police urge the driver, or anyone with information, to contact the Police on 2675 3325.

Mr So, 31 and married, joined the force in 2000. He was attached to Traffic Kowloon West Enforcement & Control Division, and had shown great enthusiasm and responsibility towards his work.
