Police and the Equestrian Company have formulated contingency measures including staff deployment plans to ensure safety at the Olympic Equestrian Events, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Henrique Koo says.
Speaking on a radio talk show this morning Mr Koo said Police have experience, confidence, sufficient resources and expertise to tackle any situation which may arise during the games.
If necessary the Government can ask the Central Government for assistance from the People's Liberation Army garrison in Hong Kong.

Police will maintain close liaison with Mainland and overseas law-enforcement agencies, he said, adding security measures will be enhanced when necessary.
Public alertness is essential, and Mr Koo urged people to inform Police of any suspicious activity and to stay calm in case of unexpected incidents. They should pay attention to personal safety and follow Police instructions.
