17 evacuated in Tai Po factory fire

Seventeen people were evacuated after a No. 4 alarm fire broke out in Tai Po Industrial Estate just before 9pm last night. No one was injured and firefighters extinguished the blaze at 1.38am.

 

The fire occurred at a recycling factory on Dai Kwai Street, and was upgraded to No. 3 alarm at 9.05pm and No. 4 at 10pm. Firefighters had surrounded the blaze by 11.05pm and had it under control at 12.34am.

 

About 2,400 metres were affected. Firefighters used 16 jets and five breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze. There were no suspicious circumstances.
