Police have been closely monitoring a transnational drug trafficking syndicate hiring multinational couriers to smuggle drugs into Hong Kong.
Acting on intelligence exchanges with the US Drug Enforcement Administration, Police officers at the airport yesterday found about 13 kilograms of cocaine in the two men's suitcases at the arrival hall.
The cocaine was wrapped in plastic bags and hidden separately in four containers with body-building powder labels. The seizure could fetch $11 million if sold in the Hong Kong market. The arrested men are believed to be drug couriers.
Police will continue keep close ties and intelligence exchanges with overseas counterparts in combating transnational drug-trafficking activities.
