*
Hong Kong Police

Police issued 567 fixed-penalty tickets and 25 summonses to road users for violating traffic regulations during the Hong Kong Island Regional Traffic Day.

The blitz concluded at 7pm today, with 165 officers enforcing traffic laws at accident blackspots on the Island. They issued 320 fixed-penalty tickets for illegal parking and 247 for other traffic offences.

They also cautioned 58 pedestrians and 212 drivers for minor offences, and gave road-safety leaflets to road users.

Up to June, there were 1,597 traffic accidents involving casualties on Hong Kong Island. Of them, 55.8% were due to pedestrians' negligence.
