Child abduction amendment order gazetted
*

The Child Abduction & Custody (Parties to Convention) (Amendment) Order 2008 will be gazetted May 9 for implementation on June 1.

The amendment adds the Ukraine to the list of contracting states and territories in the Schedule to the Child Abduction & Custody (Parties to Convention) Order, to implement the Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction between Hong Kong and the Ukraine.

The Labour & Welfare Bureau said the convention will allow the swift return of children wrongfully removed from their place of residence to another contracting state in violation of custodial rights. The convention is now in force in 80 states.
