A 36-year-old man has been charged with one count of murder in connection with the death of his 62-year-old mother in Wan Chai yesterday morning.

At about 12.40am, a 49-year-old security guard told Police that he had found a woman collapsed inside a flat when he was on patrol at No. 9 Star Street.

When Police arrived, they found the woman lying unconscious inside the bedroom and seized a chopper. She was certified dead at the scene. 

Police found her son in the staircase. Investigations suggest the man had attacked his mother with the knife.

A post-mortem showed the woman had died of multiple stab wounds to her head.
