Roger Tupper presents awards to 30 people
Life savers: Director of Marine Roger Tupper presents commendations to 30 people who rescued others in Hong Kong waters last year.
*

The Director of Marine has awarded 30 people commendations for risking their lives to rescue others in Hong Kong waters.

They were 17 Police, four Star Ferry crew, a Fortune Ferry staff member and eight civilians.

Director of Marine Roger Tupper said the department will launch the Safety Afloat campaign with the Marine Police and the Leisure & Cultural Services Department this year, and broadcast announcements of public interest on television and radio during the water-sports season.

The department will also boost law enforcement to deter speeding and reckless boating behaviour, and enhance patrols in speed-restriction zones, and around popular beaches and water-sports sites.
